Datalogic has introduced a new wireless battery charging system for enterprise mobile devices. They are one of the first manufacturers to offer this inductive, contactless charging technology for rugged mobile computers and handheld scanners.
Based on the inductive-charging technology that has become increasingly popular in a variety of consumer electronic products, the devices can be charged without the need for charging contacts that form the connection between the barcode terminal and the charging station.
It is these contacts that are often a failure point for a device, as they can be sensitive to moisture, pollution and wear as a result of frequent loading and unloading from the charger. This means that contactless charging eliminates weak points in the hardware that often get dirty, bent, or broken over time.
By removing this key point of failure for devices used in industrial and retail functions, users find that routine charging system maintenance and cleaning procedures are eliminated, which means lower down time, and a lower total cost of ownership for these Datalogic systems.
Datalogic’s Wireless Charging System is also faster than traditional charging solutions. Battery levels can be safely and rapidly “topped-up” between shifts, and fully-recharged in the shortest possible time – all without over-stressing contacts, pins, and cables. This can be a significant operational advantage for situations where devices are used around the clock, or with only short breaks between shifts.
